Vikram Solar Sparks ₹15,000+ Crore Battery Boom in TN

Vikram Solar has solidified its expansion into energy storage by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish a state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) manufacturing facility. Located at the SIPCOT Gangaikondan Industrial Park in Tirunelveli, the ₹15,037 crore project is projected to generate employment for approximately 2,670 people.

The agreement was executed in the presence of Chief Minister Joseph Vijay and Vikram Solar Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary. This strategic move aligns with the company's roadmap to achieve 15 GWh of battery storage capacity by FY30 to meet India’s renewable energy demands. The project further expands Vikram Solar's footprint in the state, adding to its current manufacturing investments in Vallam, Oragadam, and the integrated solar hub at Gangaikondan, which recently commenced its first module production.
